James grew up in Toronto and his singing in church choirs was no match for the influences of Jim Morrison, Joe Cocker and Eric Burden of the Animals. He met Alan Mills in the late 60's and the stage for singing was set.

He has played with various bands all across the decades. From the Ends of Reason, The Morning After to later in his life doing a stint with The Addiction, he has performed in bars and clubs throughout Ontario and in Chicago blues venues..

Now with life long friends of over fifty years, he fronts the band Roadzend doing the music he loves.
